Grants, Sponsorship & Donation Requests

OSI Pharmaceuticals is committed to shaping medicine and changing lives by discovering, developing and commercializing high quality and novel pharmaceutical products that extend life or improve the quality of life for patients with cancer and diabetes/obesity.

Requests for grants, sponsorships and charitable donations may be made through either the (OSI) Pharmaceuticals Foundation or through (OSI) Oncology. Requests must be compliant with all applicable federal and state laws, the PhRMA Code and OSI Pharmaceuticals, Inc. policies and guidelines.

(OSI) Oncology

(OSI) Oncology, a business area of OSI Pharmaceuticals, Inc., is dedicated and committed to the discovery, development and commercialization of molecular targeted therapies (MTTs) to revolutionize the way cancer is treated and improve treatment outcomes.

(OSI) Oncology funding will be considered for certain organizations, including those listed below:

  • institutions
  • continuing medical education (“CME”) providers
  • medical professional organizations
  • cooperative research groups
  • state medical societies
  • patient groups
  • charitable organizations

(OSI) Oncology will consider funding for certain activities including those listed below:

  • professional organization meetings
  • cooperative research group scientific meetings and annual meetings
  • accredited CME programs
  • non-CME-accredited educational programs
  • grand rounds programs
  • journal clubs
  • patient support group meetings and activities
  • scholarships or other educational funds for medical students, residents, fellows, and other healthcare professionals in training to attend major educational conferences, so long as the organization receiving the financial support determines which individuals receive the funds.

(OSI) Oncology funding will not be considered for certain purposes, including those listed below:

  • travel, lodging, time, or other costs of healthcare professionals or office staff attending educational conferences
  • to underwrite the operating costs of physician practices or other direct purchasers of OSI products, including but not limited to the costs of:
    • Patient education materials developed and distributed by physician practices to their patients;
    • Social events for staff (e.g., holiday parties, staff dinners, etc.);
    • Medical or office equipment (e.g., infusion chair)

(OSI) Pharmaceuticals Foundation

The (OSI) Pharmaceuticals Foundation was established in 2005 with the purpose of investing in our communities through employee volunteerism, the support of cancer and diabetes patients and their families, and the funding of science education.

(OSI) Pharmaceuticals Foundation funding will only be considered for:

  • non-profit organizations with 501(c)(3) status
  • organizations whose mission is in line with the OSI Foundation mission

(OSI) Pharmaceuticals Foundation funding will typically not be considered for certain organizations or purposes, including those listed below:

  • cancer and/or diabetes research
  • organizations who make more than one request per calendar year
  • individual requests
  • capital expenses
  • political or religious organizations

In determining whether a particular program has the appropriate educational, scientific, and/or charitable purposes, we will consider certain criteria, including whether:

  • the Program is in a field in which OSI has a scientific or educational interest;
  • the request has been submitted to allow for processing/administration (generally 12 weeks prior to the Program);
  • the topic/subject of the Program is scientifically rigorous, addresses the latest research and developments in the field, and is relevant from a scientific, educational, or social perspective;
  • the Program is well balanced, not focusing unduly on one company or product;
  • the Program's faculty are knowledgeable and experienced in the field;
  • the amount requested reflects fair market value for the activities to be undertaken in the Program.

All grants, sponsorships and charitable donations are subject to OSI's terms and conditions.
